Geography
At St Augustine’s all pupils communicate their knowledge and ideas through their geography work.
Enquiry questions during each unit help children to refer to what they are learning and why.
Our pupils learn geographical vocabulary and use and develop their mapping and field study skills throughout school. We want children to understand the world, continents, countries, counties, cities, towns and villages. Also, areas and features and how they affect the way we live and the effect of human behaviour on them.
We want them to understand their local area and be able to compare it to the wider world.
The curriculum and planning are adapted appropriately for those children with SEND and those that are new to English so that skills and knowledge are developed alongside children’s confidence.
