For PE:
On PE days, pupils come to school in their PE kit. PE kit comprises of:
Black shorts or jogging bottoms
Plain t-shirt in the same colour as your child's team. (First t-shirt is provided by school, free of charge)
Black plimsolls or plain black trainers
Black Tracksuit top
NO jewellery is permitted for PE lessons in case of accidents for Health and Safety reasons.
Swimming
Currently, children in Year 5 go swimming every Tuesday afternoon. Children require a labelled swimming bag containing a swimming costume and towel. Goggles are not encouraged. They should only be required when chemicals are a problem, or for medical reasons. Jewellery should not be worn.
Hair
Hair should be suitably cut for school with no shaved motifs. Long hair should be tied back away from the face.
Headscarves
Pupils may, if they wish, wear headscarves. Scarves should be of a shorter length and fit without the aid of a pin. Headscarves should be black in colour.
Book Bags
School book bags can be purchased from Shaw Hardcastles (two styles in Jade green with the school logo on) or from The Uniform Shop (plain black). These are used to keep reading books and diaries in good condition.
Jewellery
Jewellery is discouraged in school. The only jewellery allowed in school are single earring studs in pierced ears or a wristwatch.
A taweez (prayer from the Quran) may be attached to the inside of a jumper or cardigan by a very small safety pin. Children should not wear a taweez on a cord around the neck.
If a child comes to school wearing any other item of jewellery, they will be asked to remove it and to leave it at home in future. For Health and Safety reasons, no earrings should be worn on PE days (Tuesdays and Fridays) as it is easy to catch them in games or in dance/gymnastic activities.
